Silver Spoons for Better Health

Silver spoons can fight bacteria, viruses, and other bad micro-organisms.
Most folks today would agree that we live in troubled times. At any moment, a single event could change the balance of our society for the worse, taking us back to what some might call the dark ages. Predicted solar flares, EMPs, earthquakes, or even terrorist activity today could lead to a complete infrastructure failure that would affect every aspect of our future. During such a grim event, our personal health would be a great concern. Without refrigeration, many medicines would spoil. Without power, pharmaceutical plants shut down. The few hospitals that have back-up power will soon run out and close if they are not overrun by the masses first. Most modern medical practices would become useless. What is common surgery today, will become a thing of the past. Without the power grid, virtually all that goes into modern medical practices for the common man simply goes away.

Everyday tasks that we would have engaged in without concern before such an event could now pose a health risk that leads to infections or sickness and could even lead to death. Running a barbed wire fence, turning a wrench on your truck, or cutting fire wood will require extra care so as to not get hurt or injured. In fact, just sitting down to a meal could lead to your demise. Aside from the main course, what are you ingesting from the plates and utensils themselves? Like it or not, without automatic dishwashers, we will all be taking a greater interest in washing the dishes and being certain that they are clean, which is why we all should now be looking at silver spoons.

Silver spoons may be the very reason some family lines have continued through the ages while others have been completely lost. Perhaps this, too, is why the general population holds a negative bias towards those who were “born with a silver spoon“. While the lower class ate their meals with dirty hands and wooden spoons, the elite would eat with dirty hands and silver spoons. Read more

Study Finds Ultra-Low-Calorie, Low-Carb Diet Can Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

A study has found that an ultra-low-calorie, low-carb diet is sufficient to reverse type 2 diabetes.
Patients who consumed only 600 calories a day for two months were able to reverse their Type 2 diabetes, according to a groundbreaking British study. The research, involving just 11 patients, suggests a very low-calorie diet can remove fat that clogs the pancreas, allowing normal insulin secretion to be restored, according to Newcastle University.

Seven of the 11 patients remained free of diabetes three months after the study, researchers said.

Type 2 diabetes, also known as adult-onset diabetes, has been thought to be a progressive, irreversible condition. Once diagnosed, some patients can control their diabetes with tablets, but many eventually require insulin injections. Read more

The One Food for Maximum Muscle, Minimum Fat

Dr. Joseph Mercola reveals the one food you need to eat for maximum muscle and minimum fat.
... So, there are two primary factors involved in effective fitness nutrition:

1. A high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet
2. Your diet must contain certain amino acids, the most notable of which is leucine

Leucine – A Powerful Muscle Builder

Leucine is part of branched-chain amino acid found in certain foods. It serves multiple functions in your body, one of which is signaling the mTOR (Mammalian Target of Rapamycin) mechanism, which causes protein to be created and builds your muscle. However, according to Ori, you need far more than the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of leucine in order to reap the optimal effect. Read more

"Magic Mushroom" Positive Effects Last Over a Year, Say Researchers

Researchers claim to have determined the proper dose levels of the psychoactive substance in so-called "magic mushrooms" needed to create positive changes in attitudes, mood, life satisfaction, and behavior that last for more than a year.
The hallucinogen in magic mushrooms may no longer just be for hippies seeking a trippy high.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine have been studying the effects of psilocybin, a chemical found in some psychedelic mushrooms, that's credited with inducing transcendental states. Now, they say, they've zeroed in on the perfect dosage level to produce transformative mystical and spiritual experiences that offer long-lasting life-changing benefits, while carrying little risk of negative reactions.

The breakthrough could speed the day when doctors use psilocybin--long viewed skeptically for its association with 1960s countercultural thrill-seekers--for a range of valuable clinical functions, like easing the anxiety of terminally ill patients, treating depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, and helping smokers quit. Already, studies in which depressed cancer patients were given the drug have reported positive results. "I'm not afraid to die anymore" one participant told The Lookout. Read more

How to Make Your Own Super Water

Dr. Edward Group says that the human body is a water machine, designed to run primarily on water and minerals. He explains what he means by that and gives a recipe for making your own toxin-free "super water."
Until recently most medical theory was based on the assumption that the 20% of our body that is solid tissue is what determined our health, since that is where most outward signs of disease and illness are found. It was thought that the 80% of our body that is liquid merely supported the structure of bone and organ tissue. We now know the opposite to be true, the fluids that flow through our body are what create our level of well being. The human body is a water machine, designed to run primarily on water and minerals. By weight our body is about 72% water, another 8% is a combination of chemical compounds and the remaining 20% is bone and solid tissue. From the most basic standpoint it is a common sense equation, if we are made up of 72% plain water, then naturally the quality of the water we consume will have a very dramatic impact on our overall state of health. Every healing and life giving process that happens in our body happens through Water! Read more

12 Steps for Natural Cancer Prevention

Joseph Mercola lists twelve steps for natural cancer prevention, plus an herb that is a powerful cancer gene regulator.
... Most of us actually carry around microscopic cancer cell clusters in our bodies all the time. The reason why we all don't develop cancer is because as long as your body has the ability to balance angiogenesis properly, it will prevent blood vessels from forming to feed these microscopic tumors. Trouble will only arise if, and when, the cancer cells manage to get their own blood supply, at which point they can transform from harmless to deadly.

As our ancestors intuitively understood, Nature has laced a large number of foods and herbs with naturally occurring inhibitors of angiogenesis, rendering them natural "anti-cancer medicines." Simply by consuming these anti-angiogenetic foods you can naturally boost your body's defense system and prevent blood vessels from forming and feeding the microscopic tumors that exist in your body at any given time.

I've previously written about a number of different foods found to have particularly powerful epigenetic influence, such as broccoli and resveratrol, but many researchers consider the curcumin in turmeric to have the greatest potential in combating cancer.

Is Lithium the New Fluoride?

Is lithium the next fluoride? Experts are calling for the addition of this psychiatric drug to the water supply to reduce "undesirable social behaviors."
Lithium, the psychiatric drug prescribed for depression, mania and bipolar disorder, is now being viewed as the new fluoride by some experts. These experts are calling for the addition of lithium to the water supply as a cure-all for social problems, including suicide, violent crime and drug use.

Lithium is the new fluoride

Dr. Gerald Schrauzer, who published the first paper in 1989 connecting lithium in water supplies to a decrease in certain undesirable social behaviors, became interested in lithium after growing up next to a "miracle spring" in Franzensbad, Czechoslovakia. This lithium-containing spring was alleged to moderate the temperaments of women in particular.

For centuries, people worldwide have been attracted to springs like these for their calming benefits, and scientists have since found the benefits to be credited to unusually high natural lithium levels. Read more

Can a Man Restore His Foreskin After Circumcision?

Many men who were circumcised as infants are now learning about the benfits of having an intact penis. Can a man restore his foreskin after circumcision? Kaylen Jackson says yes.
Circumcision is a commonly performed surgery in the U.S. on male babies. As more and more information becomes available about circumcision and its after effects, less and less parents are electing to have this done on their male children. However, there are hundreds of thousands of boys and men out there that have been and continue to be circumcised. What happens when a boy becomes a man and decides he wants his foreskin? Can he get it back?
Benefits Of Having An Intact Penis

You might wonder why a man would decide, after being circumcised his whole life, would decide he wanted to have an intact penis. While the U.S. has made a circumcised penis the “social norm” over the years, circumcision surgery is actually not commonly performed in other parts of the world. Studies have shown that the procedure is extremely painful for male babies and carries a high risk of infection when the wound is exposed to urine and feces in a diaper. Read more

5 Natural Remedies for Erectile Dysfunction

One problem that women do not have to worry about, but that worries every single man is erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction, formerly called impotence, is the inability to achieve or maintain an adequate erection for satisfactory sexual activity. It's more common in men middle-aged and older, but it can occur at any age.

Erectile dysfunction is not something that men have to live with anymore. You're probably aware of the several heavily advertised medications that you can take to help with this problem. However, if you don't like to take pharmaceutical drugs, you may want to try these natural remedies as alternative treatments for erectile dysfunction.

1) Ashwagandha
The herb ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is sometimes called Indian Ginseng because it is thought to have similar effects on the body. It is thought to increase energy, stamina, and sexual function.

2) Gingko Biloba
The herb ginkgo biloba is used for erectile dysfunction, particularly in people who experience sexual dysfunction as a side effect of antidepressant drugs. It appears to relax smooth muscle and enhance blood flow in the penis.

3) L-Arginine
L-arginine is an amino acid that the body uses to make nitric oxide, a substance signals smooth muscle surrounding blood vessels to relax, which dilates the blood vessels and increases blood flow. Relaxation of smooth muscle in the penis allows for enhanced blood flow, leading to an erection. L-arginine is found naturally in foods such as meat, dairy, poultry, and fish. It is also available as oral L-arginine supplements, which some product manufacturers market as a "natural Viagra").

4) Propionyl-L-Carnitine
Propionyl-L-carnitine has been found to enhance the effectiveness of Viagra and result in improved erectile function, sexual intercourse satisfaction, orgasm, and general sexual well-being compared to Viagra alone. Propionyl-L-carnitine supplements plus Viagra has also been found effective for men with erectile dysfunction and diabetes who were previously unresponsive to Viagra alone.

5) Zinc
Siginificant depletion of the mineral zinc, associated with long-term use of diuretics, diabetes, digestive disorders, and certain kidney and liver diseases, has been shown to lead to erectile dysfunction.

Scientists Push to Put RFID Chips in Your Food

More evidence that those in power wish to micromanage every single aspect of our lives: scientists are pushing to implement edible RFID tracking chips in food.
It will monitor your calorie intake, show from where your food was sourced, and even let you know when the food in your fridge is about to go bad -- these are some of the enticing claims made by the developers of a new system that embeds edible radio frequency identification (RFID) chips directly into food. Its creators insist the technology will revolutionize the way humans eat for the better, but critical-thinking onlookers will recognize the ploy as just another way to track and control human behavior.

Developed by Hannes Harms from the Royal College of Art in London, the "NutriSmart" system is based on the idea that RFID wafers injected directly into food can help better track the food supply chain, further automate the supermarket shopping experience, and simplify the eating experience by programming data into food so that humans essentially do not have to think about what they are doing. Commuting Is Killing You

Long commutes cause obesity, neck pain, loneliness, divorce, stress, and insomnia.
This week, researchers at Umea University in Sweden released a startling finding: Couples in which one partner commutes for longer than 45 minutes are 40 percent likelier to divorce. The Swedes could not say why. Perhaps long-distance commuters tend to be poorer or less educated, both conditions that make divorce more common. Perhaps long transit times exacerbate corrosive marital inequalities, with one partner overburdened by child care and the other overburdened by work. But perhaps the Swedes are just telling us something we all already know, which is that commuting is bad for you. Awful, in fact.

Commuting is a migraine-inducing life-suck – a mundane task about as pleasurable as assembling flat-pack furniture or getting your license renewed, and you have to do it every day. If you are commuting, you are not spending quality time with your loved ones. You are not exercising, doing challenging work, having sex, petting your dog, or playing with your kids (or your Wii). You are not doing any of the things that make human beings happy. Instead, you are getting nauseous on a bus, jostled on a train, or cut off in traffic.

In the past decade or so, researchers have produced a significant body of research measuring the dreadfulness of a long commute. People with long transit times suffer from disproportionate pain, stress, obesity, and dissatisfaction. The joy of living in a big, exurban house, or that extra income left over from your cheap rent? It is almost certainly not worth it. Read more
