By rights, my exercise regime should be slowing down now that I have hit threescore years and ten. Instead, it gets tougher all the time. Over the past year, I have added CrossFit, Insanity and boxing to my regular exercise programme of weights, cardio, spin and treadmill – or at least my instructors have. Rather than making concessions to my age, they are working me ever harder, and although it’s an effort to get to the gym at 6.30 every morning and put myself through increasingly difficult paces, the results - and the compliments - are more than worth it.
